Is the Ethanol in Phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) Stock Solution bad?

I'm shopping for Phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) on the sigma web site

I need to include 1mM in my resuspension solution for my cells before I lyse them to purify my expressed protein.

I see that Sigma sell a 0.1M stock in ethanol.  PMSF is very unstable in water but will the 1part in 100 of ethanol that would result in my working solution if I diluted this into by resuspension buffer have an adverse effect on the cell prep or protein that I will purify?

Also In what buffer do you dissolve your stock PMSF and how do you store it?

a couple of % of methanol of

a couple of % of methanol of ethanol won't do any bad to your samples.

I prepare 200mM PMSF stocks in methanol myself, keep 4C

Hi,

Hi,
I guess it doesnt matter to use ethanol or methanol for your stock preparation. Since the liquid form it is very unstable at RT less in 4C people use to keep at -20c. One can use the prepared stock after keeping 1hr prior to work .
