Almost 90 % of drugs have been discovered through ethanopharmacologic knowledge of indegeneous people of the area.
"Today, according to the WHO, as manyas 80% of the world’s people depend on traditional medicine for its primary health care needs. There are considerable economic benefits in the development of indigenous medicines and in the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of various diseases" (H. Azaizeh et al 2002)
