Free Imaging software

Hi all,
I was looking for a free imaging software and found this one:
JMicrovision find it in: www.jmicrovision.com
I started working with it and am very pleased with the possibilities that this software offers.
You can have many ways to do thershholding and lots of options to count groups, do different measurements etc. and all for free.

Guy, you have to try out the NIH Image J if you haven't already - especially with some of the additional modules it has, it beats many programs you have to pay good $$$s for!

I used the ImageJ, and could not find the aplictions that I needed. So I looked for a better one.
Maybe I do not know all of the small stuff but if you know it I would be more then happy to learn. I used the help but was a bit complicated for me to anderstand.

main thing that I could not found is calibration tool?

Calibration as in setting up white balance/darkfield, or setting up objective matched rulers?
The problem with Image J is the rather scattered modules and documentation - that makes the learning curve as steep or steeper than Photoshop!

Guy, you should also take a

Guy, you should also take a look at uManager (microManager) - its an open source image acquisition and analysis program - there are now several dozen devices including cameras, microscopes, filter wheels, shutters and stages, and has Image J (for the analysis component) integrated in it.
Also, see CellProfiler and Open Microscopy Environment (OMERO).
Image J itself itself has a bunch of plugins and macros (over 800!) - so its really adaptable.

In ImageJ you you go to the "analyze" menu and then select "set scale"

There you can enter a known length for a number of pixels

For instance if you know your field of view is 100 microns (you can use whatever units you want) and have a 512x512 image you can enter those values in the appropriate field.

you then go to "analyze"/"tools"/"Scale Bar" to display the calibration in the image.
