Opening For Analytical Laboratory Technician AltaBioscience

 Alta Bioscience Ltd, a laboratory product and service provider, based on the University of Birmingham campus, are looking for an experienced laboratory technician  to undertake this fulfilling role within the company. The amino acid analysis section performs analyses on a wide range of samples including - food and drink samples, cell cultures and synthetic peptides/proteins  and works to specific quality standards ISO 17025:2005 and ISO 9001:2008.
This full time role (37.5 hours per week minimum) over 5 days a week, will involve work in our amino acid analysis section.
Requirements of the role include:
Receipting and logging orders
Weighing and handling samples for analysis including acid hydrolysis
Preparing stock reagents and loading instruments including Biochrom and Waters HPLCs
Analysing data and comparing standards
Evaluate and calculate data for reports
Method troubleshooting, report writing, results approval and presentation of results to customers
Maintaining ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 17025:2005 quality systems
Previous analytical experience within food nutritional analysis, contaminants analysis or food authenticity would be advantageous.
Person Specification:
Previous technical experience in one of the following areas: residue analysis, food nutritional analysis, contaminants analysis, food authenticity
Experience of working in a laboratory environment and sample analysis for residues and contaminants, including method validation requirements
Experience of working in a customer facing environment with strong customer service skills
Experience of evaluating and approving analytical data
Problem solving and query resolution skills
Attention to detail and a knowledge of laboratory safety regulations
IT literate with working knowledge of email and MS Office applications
A professional manner with excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience of working in an accredited laboratory and a degree in a relevant science based discipline is desirable.
