Two research fellow positions to study inflammation/ cancer 2012

Hollings Cancer Center, Medical University of South Carolina
Two research fellow positions are available to study inflammation and cancer.
My lab has contributed to the knowledge of an endoplasmic reticulum master chaperone of Toll-like receptors, in regulating immune response against infection, tumor and self-antigens (Pubmed/Google Scholar term: Zihai Li; While this line of research is ongoing, the lab is also increasingly interested in defining the roles of inflammation in prevention or initiation of oncogenesis in clinically relevant cancer models, identifying the critical mediators and designing targeted cancer therapeutics. We are interested in inflammatory mediators from both immune cells (dendritic cells, macrophage, regulatory T cells etc.) and non-immune cells such as epithelial cells, triggered by either infectious or non-infectious agents. We hope to accomplish these goals by asking out-of-box questions without being limited to any particular techniques and immunology subareas.
Yes, you need to have the right qualification such as a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, original mind and outstanding work ethics, publications in international journals and a superb set of bench skills. Most importantly, If research is your passion, solving important problems in immunology is your goal, you could well be in the right place. I enjoy working with someone who is smarter, more driven than myself in science and is not satisfied with the standard answers to many questions that are offered in the textbook of immunology. If you think you are the one, please write to me. I will work equally hard to ensure your success.
Depending on your qualification, you will be appointed either as a postdoc fellow or a research faculty member.
