Aalto University School of Chemical Technology invites applications for:
TENURE TRACK OR TENURED POSITION IN BIOCHEMISTRY
Rank will commensurate with experience but preference will be given to appointment at the full professor level.
The post is located at the Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Technology. The core competence of the department combines industrial biotechnology with chemical technology and engineering. Research and teaching of the department is committed to sustainable and efficient refining and use of natural resources. The eligible applicant has a scientific excellence in biochemistry with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches that support the department’s research on bio-based processes, new products and materials, sustainable development and energy efficiency.
The applicants are expected to have an outstanding record of research and teaching in one or more of the following areas or areas closely related to synthetic biology, biophysical chemistry, metabolism and metabolomics, structure and function of biological macromolecules such as enzymes, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, biological membranes and nucleic acids (including gene expression).
Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in related field. As mentioned above distinction in published research is very important. In addition to this, the applicants must show evidence of consistent extramural funding and strong international experience and collaboration. The appointee will be expected to commit to teaching. Pedagogical studies are an advantage.
The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching and academic leadership and activity in scientific community.
Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also provide salary requirements.
