The Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FdSN), at the School of Applied Technology (SAT), Illinois

Institute of Technology (IIT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in Food Microbiology. We seek outstanding candidates who are committed to research and teaching excellence in food microbiology and food safety. In addition, the faculty will work with our nationally and internationally recognized Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s Division of Food Processing Science and Technology located at IIT IFSH, to develop, lead and deliver research projects in food microbiology, food safety and technology, and related fields. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in food science, microbiology, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, agricultural sciences, or related disciplines.

The FdSN is an academic unit at the IIT School of Applied Technology with over 170 graduate students in Food Safety and Technology, and Food Processing Engineering. IFSH is a unique and one-of-a-kind institute in the nation where FDA, academia and the industry join forces and conduct research in a neutral ground to address major national food safety and nutrition issues. IFSH comprises 50 IIT faculty and staff, 50 FDA scientists physically co-located in the building, and over 70 industry member companies.
