The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) is a national centre for genomics and bioinformatics funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in conjunction with the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), Greater Norwich Development Partnership (GNDP). Focusing on genomic analyses of plants, microbes and animals, the work of the Centre underpins advances in crop science, animal health and welfare and microbial science applications through genomics-based biology in academic and commercial sectors.
We are currently seeking to appoint individuals to team leader roles within the Bioinformatics division at TGAC.
Sequencing Informatics Team Leader
We seek to appoint a gifted scientist into the role that will lead the design and implementation of the informatics infrastructure to manage the large genomics datasets generated at TGAC. The candidate will have a proven record in software development and project management in particular in the context of large volumes of data. The Sequencing Informatics Team leader will work to ensure that TGAC is at the forefront of innovation in the latest methods for high-throughput computing and storage technologies such as the use of elastic resource management approaches. The post holder will have a PhD in Bioinformatics (or similar discipline) with experience in large software project and group management. The successful candidate will be an expert in the latest sequence analysis tools and will have an understanding of the challenges in processing and interpreting large volumes of genomic data.
Appointments for these roles will be based upon a track record of scientific excellence and strategic vision for the future.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £42,769 to £47,521 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. These are indefinite term posts.
