A Post-Doctoral Scientist position is available in the Cancer Biology laboratory of Prof Margaret Frame (http://www.ecrc.ed.ac.uk/Researchers/item/Prof-Margaret-Frame.html). The research in the lab focuses on cell adhesion networks in cancer, with specific emphasis to date on the regulation and role of the adhesion-linked ‘nodal’ Tyrosine Kinases – predominantly non-receptor kinases of the Src and FAK families that reside at sites of cell interaction with the environment or neighbouring cells.

The lab is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic postdoctoral scientist with experience in protein network biology approaches. The candidate must have completed a PhD degree in cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry or similar field and have a strong publication track record. Knowledge of basic molecular biology, cell biology, and protein analysis techniques (e.g. tissue culture, molecular cloning, western blotting, microscopy) is necessary. Previous experience with proteomics and/or mass spectrometry is highly desirable. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate an ability to design, execute and interpret experiments, creative thinking, presentation skills, problem solving, initiative and critical analysis.

The lab is located at the Edinburgh Cancer Research UK Centre, which is part of a wider Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, and offers state-of-the art technologies, collaborative research environment and access to multiple advanced services.
