The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £29,541 – £36,298 per annum, exclusive of London Allowance.
We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and qualified catalysis scientist for a ’core’ postdoctoral Research Associate position in catalytic science, as part of the new EPSRC UK Catalysis Hub at Harwell. The successful applicant will need to have experience in heterogeneous catalysis preparation, screening and characterisation, and will contribute to the development of multidisciplinary research across the four inter-related themes of the UK Catalysis Hub:
Catalyst Design – (led by Professor Richard Catlow, University College London) Environmental Catalysis – (led by Professor Graham Hutchings, Cardiff University ) Catalysis for Energy- (led by Professor Christopher Hardacre, Queen’s University, Belfast ) Catalysis for Chemical Transformations – (led by Professor Matthew Davidson, University of Bath ) The Research Associate will be expected to play a major role in the research conducted by the Hub and will have the opportunity to contribute to a number of projects during their tenure. The appointee will develop and apply novel synthesis techniques for the production of materials and their application in heterogeneous catalysis as well as the detailed characterisation of the synthesised materials.
The appointment is funded for 3 years, in the first instance, by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) who are investing £12.9 million in the UK Catalysis Hub, a UK-wide research programme into catalytic science, involving over 30 Universities throughout the UK. The appointment will be based at the UK Catalysis Hub, located on the RAL Campus in Oxfordshire.
The successful applicant will have an extensive background and track record in heterogeneous catalysis. Previous experience in preparation of supported metal nanoparticles/mesoporous materials is essential. The appointee will have a PhD degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.
