Based in the Institute of Genetic Medicine to work on the project ‘Vangl2 as a Regulator of Second Heart Field Movements into the Heart’. This project aims to understand how disruption of a key cell signalling pathway, the planar cell polarity pathway, results in heart malformations. You will use transgenic approaches to study cardiovascular development using a range of techniques including mRNA and protein expression analyses, cell culture and state-of-the-art imaging techniques. The project builds on a successful research strand.
You will have a PhD in developmental biology or cell biology with relevant publications. Expertise in confocal microscopy and mammalian genetics would be advantageous.
Excellent organisation and attention to detail are essential. You will be quick to learn new techniques, possess good computer skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
The post is tenable for three years.
Informal enquiries can be made to Prof. Deborah Henderson (firstname.lastname@example.org).
