MRC Postdoctoral Scientist – IRC181853

From £33,377 to £37,053 pa inclusive*
We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral scientist to work with Professor Amanda Fisher in the Lymphocyte Development Group of the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre on the Hammersmith Campus of the Imperial College School of Medicine.
The group is interested in understanding the mechanisms of cell commitment, particularly focusing on the epigenetic mechanisms contributing to the regulation of differentiation. Cellular models include ES, neuronal and lymphocyte cells.
The applicant must have knowledge of the epigenetics field, particularly the role and function of chromatin regulatory factors such as the polycomb and trithorax group proteins.
The research project will be in a highly competitive field and the post-holder must have extensive skills in using ‘simple’ in vivo models, such as hydractina and planaria in studying pluripotency and germ layer development. Expertise in cell culture profiling as well as whole mount In situ hybridizations and RT-PCR are required.
This is a fixed-term post for 3 years, funded by the MRC and the minimum requirement is a PhD in Natural Sciences or a closely related discipline.

*Salary quoted is inclusive of London weighting. Additional allowances comprise a £1,000 lump sum Settlement Allowance plus a yearly Training Allowance of £850 in the first year, paid in monthly instalments. The Training Allowance increases to £1,300 in year two, and £1,800 in the third year.
