Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher within the Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials (NFB) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The project is funded by Health Research Board, Ireland.

Job Description: Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a three year fixed term Postdoctoral Researcher contract position. The position is designed for the development of a cell-based therapy platform technology for peripheral nerve regeneration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform extensive in vitro and in vivo experimentation;
• Analyse data in an accurate and precise manner;
• Actively participate in international conferences and meetings;
• Publish data in high impact factor journals;
• Guide and train doctoral candidates;
• Closely work with other post-doctoral scientist at NFB and associated institutes within and outside NUI Galway;
• Co-ordinate and manage project in an independent manner.
Applicant’s Specifications: Ideal candidate should have a proven track record in a research and development environment. Candidates must be highly motivated and passionate about developing new products. A postgraduate degree in a biomedical/biological field is necessary and a PhD in cell-based therapies is essential. The successful candidate should have expertise in as many of the following areas: cell biology; neural cell culture; molecular biology; in vitro and in vivo assays; protein analysis; bioreactors; hypoxic conditions; gene analysis; cell-based therapies; histology; immunohistochemistry; stereology. Previous experience in pre-clinical models is highly preferred. Publications in high impact factor journals and active participation in international conferences and meetings is essential. Candidates who have worked in the neural field are encouraged to apply.
