Investigator: William S Brimijoin, PhD Professor
We have a unique opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow with strong background in toxicology, including live animal work, who seeks training in applied neuroscience and would like to participate in a highly translational research project with solid federal funding. Our goal is to develop a gene therapy for cocaine abuse based on viral delivery of engineered cocaine hydrolase. Work to date with rats and mice has established the potential efficacy of this approach. We now intend to evaluate a wide range of risks and bring multiple lines of evidence from biochemical, histological, and neurobehavioral studies to bear on the paramount issue of SAFETY.
Extra attention will be given to applications that provide specific detail about how the candidate would apply his or her previous experience to address the project's major research goal.
