The Neuroimmunomodulation Group at the Department of Pathology (School of Veterinary Medicine, University of São Paulo), has an open position for a postdoctoral fellowship with financial support from FAPESP (approved along the Project #09/51886-3 – Neuroimmunomodulation: drugs, stress, and cytokines on nervous, endocrine, and immune system relatioship – Principal Investigator: Dr. João Palermo Neto).
The ideal candidate should have experience in molecular biology applied to neuroscience and immunology research (real-time PCR, ISH, microarrays). Cell culture (short-term for leukocytes, and primary for glia), flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, laser microdissection, imaging techniques (acquisition and analysis), and animal handling/surgery are also desireable. Written and spoken fluency in English is highly recommended.
The candidate will handle an invidual project focusing on gene expression in discrete CNS areas over the course of animal disease models and following stressors. The candidate is also expected to offer technical support in molecular biology techniques to undergraduate students, and MS or PhD candidates in out group.
This in an ongoing Thematic Project (2010-2015).
The current stipend for postdoctoral fellows supported by FAPESP is R$5028,90.
Fellowships can be renewed on an year-to-year basis (total duration = 4 years).
