Postdoctoral position for bench-scale CO2 capture process development

 The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) anticipates adding a postdoctoral researcher position in the
CO2 capture area. The work will primarily involve process development and optimization of an integrated bench-scale unit. A
summary of the position is listed below:
Postdoctoral Scholar
The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) is seeking to fill an immediate full-time postdoctoral
opening. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and optimization of an integrated bench-scale process
for CO2 absorption and desorption.
The position requires a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from an accredited college or university. Prior experience in the CO2 capture
research field and experience with the operation and optimization of integrated process operations is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate should:
• Show demonstrated ability to construct and operate an integrated, continuous, bench-scale system.
• Possess proficiency with experimental design and execution particularly as related to integrated process units.
• Possess good understanding of chemical kinetics, mass transfer properties, and thermodynamics particularly as
related to solvent based acid gas absorption and desorption.
• Be able to work both independently and as a member of a research team.
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present their work at scientific meetings and to
peer-reviewed journals.
