Postdoctoral Fellowship:Biological Image-based High-Content Screening on Cell Non-Autonomous Protein Aggregate Induction at DZNE, Germany

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with excellent analytical and organizational skills and a strong interest in automated high resolution microscopy and image analysis.

-The successful applicant should hold a Ph.D. in cell biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics or related fields. Hands-on experience with liquid handling workstations, liquid dispensers, plate readers and automation scheduling software is preferred.

-Experience in cell-based screening assays, ideally in high-content screening and image analysis would be an advantage. The candidate should be able to work independently and have excellent team working skills.

-Fluency in English is required.

Scholarship Description: Our laboratory studies basic mechanisms of prion formation and transmission. We are especially interested in cell non-autonomous aggregate induction, a mechanism of aggregate formation that might also be of importance to other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease (Krammer et al., Prion 2009; Krammer et al., PNAS 2009).

To unravel basic mechanisms of intercellular protein aggregate transmission and spreading, we will perform automated cell-based RNA interference and small molecule screens.

The job location is Bonn. The position is available immediately for 2 years with the possibility of an extension. The DZNE seeks to increase the number of female personnel in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

The DZNE is committed to employing more disabled individuals and especially encourages them to apply.
