Postdoctoral fellowship in the study neuropsychiatric disease

Job Description

Dr. Stewart Anderson,, currently at the Weill Cornell Medical College in Manhattan, has a postdoctoral fellowship position available to start July 1 in his new lab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Our lab studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern the development of the mammalian forebrain. We use mouse genetics, forebrain slice and dissociated culture techniques, as well as mouse and human embryonic stem cells in transplantation experiments to study the fate determination of GABAergic interneurons of the cerebral cortex. In addition, we are using human stem cell-derived interneurons as tools for the study of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in neuropsychiatric disease, including schizophrenia and autism.

This position requires a minimum of several years of previous stem cell culture experience, preferably with human ES or IPS cells. Additional experience in developmental neuroscience and basic molecular biology (i.e. RT-PCR, basic cloning) is preferred.

Proficiency in spoken English is required.
Applicants should submit a CV, statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to: Stewart A.
