Scholarship Description: The Coastal Zones Research Institute Inc. (CZRI) is a private non-profit institution affiliated with the University of Moncton, Shippagan Campus, New Brunswick, Canada. Of the several research directions, the development of value-added health products from the marine by-products has received increased attention. To achieve this goal, the research and development teams interact constantly with partners from industries, universities, research organizations/ centres, as well as federal and provincial research agencies. For example, the CZRI has been collaborating with the National Research Council Canada (NRC) in Charlottetown and Halifax to discover and develop natural health products from marine by-products to address metabolic disorders by fusing on obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Currently, we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral Fellow to conduct in vitro and in vivo studies at NRC in Charlottetown to investigate the efficacy and the underlying mechanism of action of several lead extracts from marine by-products for their abilities to regulate the metabolism and homeostasis of lipids, energy and glucose.
