The Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute (GCCRI) at the UT Health Science Center - San Antonio is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to work in the laboratory of Dr. Alex Bishop. We are seeking a motivated, creative postdoctoral fellow to work on DNA damage response signaling and DNA damage survival/resistance in cancer. The candidate will be expected to participate in the ongoing efforts in the lab to capitalize upon RNAi screen data to identify novel genes and pathways necessary for damage response, examining the role of these genes, how they are altered within cancer and the consequences of these alterations.
Candidates are expected to work closely with other members of the lab and coordinate with collaborators. It is expected that the candidate will work with cancer cell panels, using molecular biology, bioinformatics (through collaborators) and multiple assays as necessary to ask questions that arise. The candidate must have a Ph.D. or M.D. in a relevant field preferably with five years or less of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, and ability to conduct research independently. The ideal candidate would have experience in using molecular biology, DNA and RNA isolation, Southern/Northern/Western blotting, RNA interference, establishing and using transient and stable cell clones, performing viability assays (short term and clonal assays), and ability to implement a variety of assays as needed. Experience with xenografts and pharmacological agents in vivo are a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
