Postdoctoral fellow

NIH funded postdoctoral position is immediately available for highly motivated individuals seeking to build a career in translational clinical research in lung diseases, especially in COPD, asthma and pneumonia. The candidate should have a PhD in the area of biochemistry or immunology. The lab is interested in translational research focusing on the transcription factor, Nrf2 pathway as an "immune-modulator". Recent report (Sci. Transl. Med., 2011; J. Clin. Invest. 2011) from the lab suggests that Nrf2 regulates oxidative stress and innate immune responses and thus, be a therapeutic target for COPD and other lung diseases . The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in ongoing clinical trials to measure the efficacy of Nrf2 activator in decreasing oxidative stress, inflammation, immune defenses against bacteria and virus and other biomarkers of pathophysiology of lung diseases. Previous experience in clinical biochemistry, handling blood and clinical biospecimens, PBMC/T cells, cell culture demonstrable from publications is mandatory.
