invites applications for a
Postdoc Research Fellow
in Stem cell derived hepatocyte formation and drug induced hepatotoxicity
Department of Physiology and Pharmacology
Area of responsibilities/description of the work
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who will work within a project aimed at finding new biomarkers predictive for hepatotoxicity and new conditions for differentiation of stem cells to hepatocytes. The basis for the work will be to use a novel type of bioreactor in which primary liver cells, hESC or hIPS cells are introduced. Different conditions and co-culture techniques will be searched for to obtain maximum cell maintenance and also best differentiation of the stem cells to hepatocytes. The liver-like structures obtained in the bioreactor will be challenged with different drugs and mechanisms and early biomarkers for toxicity will be identified. The position is within two EU/COLIPA financed FP7 projects.
To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate in a relevant field. The applicant must have more than 3 years of experience in research. The position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be fixed to two years with possibilities for prolongation with two years.
Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
1) Education and previous training
2) Relevance for the project
3) Publication and track record
Documented experience in relevant research areas and extensive experience with in vitro model systems and molecular techniques is important.
