Postdoc position in Cellular Physiology at Rhode Island Hospital, USA

The Cardiovascular Research Center at Rhode Island Hospital and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the general area of cellular physiology. The preferred start date is January 1, 2011. A fully equipped laboratory with two patch-clamp setups will be provided in a state of the art laboratory with access to modern core facilities
Applicants will be expected to study the biophysical properties of voltage-gated potassium channels, L-type calcium channel, and sodium calcium exchanger, and other proteins associated with regulation of membrane potential. Research programs of potential interest include structure-function relationships or cell biology of these proteins and their relationship for mechanisms of arrhythmias in long QT syndrome and myocardial dysfunction.
Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD degree and 2 -3 years of relevant postdoctoral research training. Successful candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or medical school levels.
