Postdoc fellowship in membrane transporter biology at Univ of Bern, Swiss
We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow interested in ion channel and membrane transporter biology for a project carried out as part of the TRANSCURE network, a Swiss National Center for Competence in Research (NCCR). In this research project we examine the potential role of TRPC1 channels and related proteins as drug targets in various cardiac and skeletal muscle diseases.
In collaboration with chemical and structural biology groups we will identify and characterize new drugs which modify the function of these channels, using a structure-based drug design approach and functional assays based on heterologous expression systems. State-of-the art methods are applied including laser-scanning confocal imaging, and for some functional studies, the patch-clamp technique. This position will provide excellent training opportunities in a highly interactive and networked environment. For additional information, see www.transcure.ch and www.physio.unibe.ch.
Requirements: Recent PhD in a biological science, experience in cell culture, molecular biology and functional expression techniques. Background knowledge in experimental membrane channel and/or transporter research would be an asset. We encourage women and minority candidates to apply. Please send CV, statements of research interests and 3 references to:
