A unique post-doctoral opportunity exists to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of adult kidney injury, regeneration and fibrosis in the laboratory of Dr. Katalin Susztak at the University of Pennsylvania.
Current lab projects include high troughput genomic and epigenomic analysis of human kidney disease samples and investigating the role of DNA methylation in regulating gene expression and susceptibility to common diseases. In addition, our laboratory is also interested in determining the role of the Notch and Wnt/beta-catenin pathway in chronic kidney disease development, renal epithelial cell homeostasis, renal stem or progenitor cell function and differentiation. Our recent results highlight the role of embryonic programs in adult disease development.

QUALIFICATIONS: Interested candidates should have Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with background in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Physiology or a related discipline. The applicant should have record of delivering high-quality research using molecular biology, and/or animal models. Experience in epigenetics, stem cells and mouse models of diabetes, kidney disease and related metabolic disorders are desirable. Knowledge of programming and/or statistics would be an advantage, but is not required. The candidate will be expected to play an active and collaborative role in the laboratory environment, be self motivated, and develop and run an independent research project.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The position is fully supported by NIH extramural funds and successful candidates will be offered competitive stipend/salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
