We are looking for a post-doc within the EU-ITN project LeanGreenFood. Within this project a number of PhD students are studying the enzymatic degradation of wheat arabinoxylans, and bovine milk beta-lactoglobulin in concentrated systems. In other PhD studies within the LeanGreenFood project pectin hydrolysis is studied. In all these cases the resulting hydrolysates consist of an array of different oligomers. These oligomers are identified and quantified using advanced mass spectrometric techniques coupled to liquid chromatography or capillary electrophoresis units. In case of polysaccharide (pectin/arabinoxylan) degradation, the oligosaccharides identified and quantified provide the information of the primary structure of the parental polysaccharide. It is the goal of this part of the post-doc position to in silico “synthesise” the parental polysaccharides from the fragments. With respect to the protein hydrolysis it is the objective to model the protein hydrolysis based on the fragments yielded in time. The data necessary for the simulation work of the post-doc will be derived from the experimental PhD studies carried out within the LeanGreenFood project.
For this position we request a post-doc with practical experience with computer programming, related to simulation or modelling of biochemical processes, but also have knowledge in life sciences related to physical chemistry or biochemistry. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, as the post-doc will be working in an international environment. Successful applicant has to fulfil the EU requirements for mobility and research experience, described in detail in “Guide for applicants/ 2.3 Eligible Researchers” on pages 13-14 (http://www.leangreenfood.eu/everyone/1409/5/0/30).
We offer a temporary position with an average working time of 38 hours per week, for the period of max 20 months (till 01-10-2013). Gross salary € 3755,- maximum per month.
We not only offer a competitive salary but also good (study) leave and a pension of the ABP Pension Fund.
