We are looking for a creative and motivated Postdoctoral scientist to join the Research Group of GT Biologics Limited (Aberdeen). The post-holder will be an integral member of and provide scientific expertise to the microbiology research team engaged in identification and evaluation of live (microbial) biotherapeutic products for the treatment of disease.
We are seeking an individual with a proven ability to develop and lead high quality research. The work will involve characterizing individual members of the gut microbiota, and how these contribute to health and homeostasis. The successful candidate will head a team of scientists to characterize the gastrointestinal microbiota. A strong background in a wide range of microbiological and molecular techniques is required with particular emphasis placed on techniques associated with bacterial metabolomics, microbe-microbe and microbe-host interactions. The post-holder will be expected to engage in the wider research activities of the research group, write up results in the form of reports and high-impact publications, present research outcomes at project meetings and international conferences, and generate intellectual property.
PhD in microbiology or related discipline
Appropriate postgraduate research experience in characterization of the gastrointestinal microbiota
Experience of characterizing microbial-host interactions
Excellent written communication skills, including a demonstrated capacity to write up results in a publishable form
Experience with supervision of students and/or research assistants
Experience of working with clinical samples
Experience of working in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
Experience of project management
Must have good organization skills
Should be highly motivated and able to work as part of a team, including consulting, collaborating and building relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to also work independently to a tight schedule and show initiative
Ability to communicate effectively
