Opening For Postdoctoral Scientist - Francis Crick Institute

Job Ref:     188

We are offering one 4-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Dr. Iris Salecker’s laboratory in the Division of Molecular Neurobiology at the MRC National Institute of Medical Research in London, UK. NIMR is one of the founding members of the new Francis Crick Institute, opening in central London in 2015. Our research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying visual circuit assembly in Drosophila. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and apply a range of molecular biology, genetic and imaging techniques to study the poorly understood mechanisms controlling branch morphogenesis of astrocyte-like glia and their interactions within neurons in the developing visual system.

Candidates should have or be in the final stages of obtaining a PhD degree in Neurobiology, Developmental Biology or a related discipline. A background in molecular biology, immunohistological and confocal imaging techniques, as well as basic knowledge in developmental biology and neurobiology are essential. Experience in Drosophila genetics would be a significant advantage. Enthusiastic candidates with a solid track record of academic achievements are encouraged to apply with a letter of motivation, a full curriculum vitae and the contact information of at least two references.
