Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant funded by the Medical Research Council (UK). The research will be based in Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford.
 
The postholder will join Dr Natalia Gromak's team, investigating the mechanisms governing gene regulation in humans in health and disease conditions. We are interested in molecular biology of RNA/DNA hybrids (R-loops) and their function in neurodegenerative diseases, arising due to mutations in proteins, involved in transcription and RNA processing. The essential requirements for the post include a PhD in a biological subject and previous experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, preferably in transcription and/or RNA processing. The postholder will contribute to specific projects using a variety of laboratory techniques, such as RNA and protein molecular techniques, mammalian cell culture, RNAi, mass spectrometry. The postholder will be also responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory. Demonstrated ability to communicate well, work independently within a team and maintain good laboratory records are essential for this postholder.
