Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 with a discretionary range to £40,847p.a.
Applications are invited for a Malaria Modeling Consortium Secretariat (MMCS) Computational Epidemiologist, in the Spatial Ecology and Epidemiology Group, under the supervision of Professor Simon Hay located within the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.
You will liaise with MMC members and the Executive Committee to determine key malaria elimination questions, develop these into work packages and coordinate efforts across the MMC to provide practical answers to those questions before disseminating them to a variety of different public health audiences.
You will be liaising with stakeholders to translate annual objectives into a series of modeling work packages, leading the coordination of these results and representing the MMC at external meetings, writing and leading the publication of model synthesis manuscripts, developing ideas for new research projects and raising research funds through grant applications.
You will have a first or upper second class Bachelor degree and a PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. statistical modelling, epidemiology, ecology, computer science), excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, evidence of project planning and delivering results by fixed deadlines, strong analytical and quantitative skills, including experience of working with a variety of different modelling approaches, e.g. statistical, mechanistic, IBMs, etc. A strong publication record and proven ability to work collaboratively with different research groups are also essential.
The post is a fixed-term for 1 year and is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
