FP7-ITN-AngioMatTrain-ESR10: "Functionalization of a scaffold with Elastin-

PROJECT TITLE: Functionalization of a scaffold with Elastin-like polymer (ELP) based angiogenic factors: recombinant production of ELPs containing REDV motifs and assessment of its optimal incorporation to the scaffold
EXPECTED START DATE: 1st September 2013
RECRUITING INSTITUTION: University of Valladolid (Spain)
RESEARCH GROUP: BIOFORGE (Group for Biomaterials, Biomimicry and Nanobiotechnology)
CITY, COUNTRY: Valladolid, Spain

JOB/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This researcher will design, express, produce, purify and characterise a family of recombinant elastin-like polypeptides containing specific motifs to initiate the angiogenic response. The candidate will optimize the presentation of the signalling molecules. The researcher will participate in the evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy of the functionalised ELP construct in a preclinical model of hindlimb ischemia.

APPOINTMENT: The appointment will be on a temporary basis for a maximum period of 3 years (PhD student, regular employment contract)
The remuneration will be in line with the EC rules for Marie Curie grant holders (Early-Stage Researchers, ITN).

- Expertise: Physicist, Biophysicist, Biologist, Biochemist, Biotechnologist, Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Biomedical Engineer.
- The researcher should hold a master’s degree (or take it before September 2013) and have a demonstrated vocation for a R&D career as well as a keen interest in biomaterials and nanotechnology applied to biomedical applications.
- The candidate must be fluent in spoken and written English with excellent communication and team working skills.

ELIGIBILITY: The candidate must not yet been awarded a doctoral degree (PhD) and must have less than 4 years’ research experience. The applicant must not have spent more than 12 months in the country of the host/recruiting institution (Spain) in the 3 years prior to selection.

HOW TO APPLY: Applications (in English) including a CV, certificates of examination grades, a motivation letter describing your research career goals, skills and experience, as well as two letters of recommendation should be sent by e-mail to the
