Biomedical Engineering Faculty Position in MRI Engineering

The Pittsburgh NMR Center for Biomedical Research and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University seek the appointment of one or more tenure-track faculty members at all levels, with the goal of introducing new engineering concepts to significantly extend the impact of MRI. A successful candidate is expected to build a vigorous research program that balances MRI engineering and applications and meshes with the broad biomedical engineering research network, as described at http://www.bme.cmu.edu.

Example areas of interest include, but are not limited, to signal processing for MRI, enabling physics for MRI and novel applications of MRI to neural or tissue engineering. The Pittsburgh NMR Center is particularly well-equipped for animal MRI, while the Department of Biomedical Engineering has extensive optical imaging capabilities that may work synergistically with MRI.

The College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon is ranked consistently among the top 10 engineering schools by U.S. News & World Report. Its faculty members enjoy a strong University-wide collaborative culture, excellent research support, modest teaching loads, outstanding students and comprehensive benefits. Applicants should send CVs with brief remarks on up to five publications, three letters of recommendation and vision statements of research and teaching, to:
bme-search@andrew.cmu.edu. Applications will be considered until suitable candidate(s) are recruited; relevant applications submitted earlier to the Department of Biomedical Engineering will be considered automatically for this position….
