The Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) has recently been established to create and deliver world class excellence in biomedical research to better understand health and disease as influenced by genetics, metabolism and environment with the goal of translating this knowledge into personalized science-based nutrition.
The Institute combines state-of-the-art technologies and biomedical knowledge to study the molecular mechanisms of chronic diseases. Large-scale functional genomics and mass spectrometry capabilities are integrated with bioinformatics and systems biology to generate holistic molecular insights into nutritionally actionable conditions. Using this integrated systems approach we ultimately aspire to develop nutritional approaches for the prevention of disease and to facilitate healthy aging
To realize these ambitions the Genetics Core is seeking a
SENIOR SCIENTIST – GENETIC STATISTICS
Design of statistical analysis plan for genetic studies (case/ctrl, familial, clinical intervention studies etc.).
Preparation of large scale statistical data sets.
Statistical Analysis of genetic data sets from various study designs and technologies, including next generation sequencing data.
Experience in working with statistical software (R, SAS), including scripting. Experience in C-programming advantageous.
Good knowledge of genetic analysis packages (EIGENSTRAT, plink, EMMAX etc.) for analysis of dichotomous and quantitative data, case/ctrl and family based analyses.
Know-how in statistical analysis of next generation sequencing data would be a plus.
Ability to present/explain statistical results to non-geneticists
Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
