This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-funded spin off company from the University of Salford.
Optimum Imaging Ltd is developing novel polarisation imaging technologies to be introduced into the biomedical, industrial and related sectors.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Development Manager will play a key role in the company and have the following responsibilities:
Define, design and implement imaging devices, in particular those applied to light microscopes;
Assemble and integrate various physics devices into a cohesive, working imaging platform;
Procurement of capital items, including CCD, optical and electro optical devices;
Development of software (Lab View) to control and integrate optical and electro-optical equipment; high intensity light sources and related devices;
Perform functional testing on imaging devices and deliver proof of concept experiments using biological and other substrates.
The post holder will prepare reports, perform relevant analyses and publish the results of the work. In addition, the post holder will be expected to play a full role in the company, which may include performing business development activities such as giving demonstrations to potential end customers.
The post is based in the University of Salford, Materials & Physics Research Centre.
Candidates will have experience in delivering research project results, preferably in an industrial or post-doctoral academic context although this post would also be suitable for a recent PhD graduate with relevant background. A good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject such physics or computer science is also required. Experience of working with optical devices is essential. Programming experience is desirable.
