Opening For Biological Research Facility - London

St George’s, University of London is the UK’s only independent medical and healthcare higher education institution; we are based in South West London and share a site with St. George’s Healthcare NHS Trust. We are seeking to appoint a highly qualified, experienced and motivated Animal Technologist with managerial experience and excellent interpersonal skills to the position of Manager of the Biological Research Facility (BRF).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient running of this multi-species animal facility ensuring it meets all legislative and health and safety requirements. They will be responsible for the training and compliance of all staff including an Assistant Manager and a number of Technicians. They will have experience in the deployment of resources in this growing facility and ensure the provision of an excellent service to the Research Community within St George’s and all external users. The ability to promote the highest standards of animal welfare within the facility is paramount, as is a keen interest in the use of large animal models of disease.

Experience in the development of similar facilities in support of our growth plans will be beneficial.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of biosecurity and Home Office and Health and Safety legislation.
