Direct and manage the Pacific Asian distribution channels and the regional commercial team members to achieve revenue goal and other commercial objectives consistently. The regional coverage minimally will include Australia / New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Malaysia, and potentially others depending on experience and location of candidate.
He/she will serve as the regional sales leader and will drive the sale of all Fluidigm instrument systems, consumables and service plans to public and private accounts in Pacific Asia, while managing expenses, and will be responsible for and thus held accountable for quarterly forecasting accuracy.
He/she will work directly with the Pacific Asia Regional Marketing Director and with other functional team members at Fluidigm to execute on regional marketing programs. He/she will work with management to create plans and to execute upon further expanding Fluidigm’s market share and the mind share in the region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Achieve the revenue targets for all products within assigned territories. Develop strategies and tactical plans to achieve the targets.
Own sales forecasting and reporting for the region.
Select and manage the distribution channels in each assigned territory, ensuring that the selected channel is able to achieve territory target and objectives.
Drive customer satisfaction, advocacy and loyalty; be the voice of customers in Pacific Asia. Collaborate with channel leadership colleagues to share best practices, competitive intelligence, and successful approaches to market and application segments.
Work with product marketing team to systematically provide feedback from customers and channels to impact product development.
Lead, mentor / coach and develop the direct reports who are the commercial team contributors in sales, technical support and service engineering.
Hire commercial talents in the region who will further contribute in sales, technical support and service engineering.
Participate in the design of the regional marketing tools.
Actively participate in scientific conferences, tradeshows and related field support activities.
Travel within assigned territory as necessary to work with local channel partners and the team to close critical sales efforts
Represent the company professionally, ethically and morally at all times., and approach the job consistent with Fluidigm corporate values
Achieve technical and applications knowledge on the product lines.
Must have excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to lead the region to achieve quarterly and annual sales- and business-objectives.
Bachelor’s degree (B.S. / B.A.) in Life Sciences, e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, with specific understanding of cellular analysis tools and the fields of genomics and proteomics..
Requires 12+ years sales experience with at least 6 years in commercial activity in distribution territories for life sciences high end (75K – 800K USD) capital equipment. Experience in compensation / commission plan construction, commercial terms, and required legal considerations highly desirable.
Strong network of life science capital equipment distribution channel partners in Pacific Asia and other parts of the world.
Ability to travel at least 50%.
Must be fluent in English. Fluency in another APAC language a plus.
