An exciting opportunity for a Senior Development Scientist to join the Upsteam Development Group of a leading biopharmaceutical company based in the North West of England.
The Senior Upstream Development Scientist will be required to develop and optimise upstream processes for the generation of products, including but not limited to recombinant proteins, antibodies and viruses. There will also be a requirement for scale-up/down of processes and for the technology transfer of processes.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Development Scientist (Upstream) will have a number of responsibilities which include:
1. Coordinating the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of experimental studies, including designing process steps for the cell expansion and production of complex biological products (e.g. hormones, mAbs and viral vaccines).
2. Operating bench and process scale: stirred tank bioreactors (glass and single use), rocking motion bioreactors and depth filtration systems, including the scale up/down of processes.
3. To effectively communicate experimental findings via reports and presentations both internally and to external parties.
4. Working in conjunction with the QC and QA departments to assist with tech transfer, training of staff, generation of SOPs/DOPs, troubleshooting and data review/analysis.
