Promoter analysis of cyclin D1 and comparison across species

Hi

I am interested in looking for the promoter of Cyclin D1 and compare that across species. I would be very grateful if anyone here could provide me with any website where not only can I find the promoter of the gene of my interest as well as would be able to compare it across the species.

thanking you all in advance!

Hi debdee,

Hi debdee,

You could do this as a general approach to finding promoter regions for any gene.

a) Look up the gene in NCBI gene so you can get a good unique identifier for it. See the record for Cyclin D1. This will get you the official symbol 'CCND1' which is useful to have.
b) Take that symbol and search for it in, for example, the human genome browser at UC Santa CRUZ. For example, see the results for CCND1 in human

On the genome browser, you can navigate around the sequence and view its alignments to many other genomes.

Hope that gets you started
