Hi there,
I am stuck with one calculation.
I need to prepare 10 Mm stock solution of dexamethasone, and i have dexamethasone in powder form, whose molecular weight is 392.46.
How do I calculate how much powder i need to make it 10 Mm?

Hola, Easy question and I tell you how I made calculations without formula: 1M<> 392.5 g/l ; 1mM are 392.5 mg/l <> 39,2 mg/100ml or 3,92 mg /10 ml. So 10mM are 39,2 mg /10 ml or 392 mg/100 ml.  I don´t know the volume that you need to prepare. Good luck

udvets, let me explain the calculation in bit understandable way:

Please understand what is molarity:

Molarity is the number of moles of a solute dissolved in a liter of solution.

(OR)

Molarity = Molecular weight / 1 litre (1000 ml) of solution

Molecular weight of dexamethasone is 392.46

For 1 M solution, you have to take 392.46 gm dexamethasone and dissolve in 1000 ml of your solvent (hope it is distilled water)

For 1 mM solution, you have to take 392.46 mg dexamethasone and dissolve in 1000 ml of your solvent

For 10 mM solution, you have to multiply 392.46 x 10 = 3924.6 mg of dexamethasone and dissolve in 1000 ml of your solvent.

If you wanna prepare it for just 10 ml, make the calculation as 3924.6 mg / 1000 ml X 10 ml = 39.24 mg of dexamethasone in 10 ml of your solvent.

So, in order to prepare 10 mM of dexamethasone for 10 ml, you have to weigh 39.24 mg of dexamethasone and dissolve in 10 ml of distilled water.

DId you take into account the cycledextrin the dex was dissolved into??? The water soluble form comes a 65 mg dexamethasone per gram of total substance.
