Intracellular solution for mEPSCs/mIPSCs

Most people use internal solution with Cs+ as the main ion to record minis. Can minis be recorded with KCl instead and TTX in the bath? If not, why?

You will certainly see minis

You will certainly see minis in a KCl internal solution.  But by severely reducing K+ efflux with the Cs internal solution, you will have better voltage control over a greater region of your neuron.  there will be less attenuation of minis recorded from more distal sites with the Cs solution.
