Lecturer in Cell and Developmental Biology

(£36,532 - £43,622 per annum)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative scientist to join

a newly established research team in reproductive medicine based in

Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. The research team incorporates

the NHS Tayside assisted conception unit which is initiating a £5

million build to establish state of the art facilitates. Strong

applications from those with a background in any area of

developmental/cell biology are encouraged who wish to either integrate

with our existing research or initiate a complementary programme

involving germ (stem) cells, gametes or embryos. The UK legislative and

regulatory environment provides an excellent framework for human embryo

research and you would be encouraged to utilise this opportunity.  

This position is for a highly motivated scientist with a promising

early publication track record and the potential to attract independent

external funding to develop within a world-class environment for both

basic and translational research, with the aim of establishing and

leading an independent and productive research group.  There are

outstanding opportunities for collaboration with established groups

within the University including the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI),

epidemiology/health informatics, clinical genetics, genetic

epidemiology, molecular medicine and the world-acclaimed College of Life

Sciences.

The University recorded scores at the 4* level (defined as "world

leading") in every subject area submitted to the RAE 2008. 8 of Dundee's

submissions were ranked in the top 20 in the UK in their respective

fields.
