Scintillation proximity assays (SPA) are commonly used for quantitative measurements of second messenger targets such as: cAMP, cGMP etc.

Can we use SPA to measure the mechanism of signal transduction? What are the radioisotopes of choice for such assays. We need to fund and start a project that involves signal transduction measurements and we are puzzled to find the best methods available.
Thanks
