think about all of the members this site would get if we expanded to all forms of science, not just life sciences. eventually this site could be home to many more forums regarding biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, astronomy, geology, etc ... the list goes on forever

Yes Indeed.
We welcome suggestions for additional forums and providing we have member support we will continue to expand the board creating new forums for the exchange of information and ideas.
We appreciate your participation,
Sincerely,
David

I would guess that the value of new members is higher to the forum organizers if these people (the new members) show interest in the site sponsors' products....astronomy, geology...?
