With all the technology available today, why does General Electric or Phillips Labs develop one of the many patented devices aimed at stopping SIDS.

I don't have any answer to your question but I know that many organizations throughout the whole scientific world are working to solve the problem of SIDS. Check the following website:www.sidscenter.org/

I know a pathologist/researcher who has some good data that suggests SIDS or at least some cases are caused by an allergy to mold. He was involved in a wrongful death case as an expert witness in which one twin died and one twin was fine. They were in a moldy apartment. In looking at the DNA he found a genetic predisposition in one of the twins (they were fraternal) that could have been responsible for a severe allergic response to the mold whereas the other child did not have the gene and didn't get sick.
