Job Summary This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position in Biochemistry to begin in September 2009.

The successful applicant will teach courses in the undergraduate biochemistry lecture and laboratory sequence and graduate courses in their area of expertise. The candidate will also be assigned to teach general and/or service chemistry courses. The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in departmental and campus activities, to mentor students in research, and to establish an extramurally fundable research program that is compatible with the mission and goals of the Department of Chemistry.

Required Qualifications Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry or related field by the start date.

Applicants must show evidence of ability to be an excellent teacher at all levels and ability to conduct independent research involving undergraduate and MS graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include postdoctoral experience, potential to obtain external funding, and professional expertise that complements the Department of Chemistry. Preference may be given to candidates whose research focuses on protein or nucleic acid biochemistry.
