I have recently read an article about using NIR or other similar techniques to measure blend uniformity instead of traditional sampling with thieves. Do these techniques really work? Are they acceptable to the FDA?

The current trends in process analytical technology (PAT) are Infra-red, Spetroscopy, thermal, optical, and various physical and microbiological identification techniques are emerging fast. In future PAT will take over QC as Q-PAT.

Thanks. I wonder how many companies will be left behind as these type of practices become the norm.
