This two day ‘hands-on’ workshop will be suitable for anyone interested in qPCR. Participants should be familiar with the principles of or have some experience in PCR. The workshop will teach the basic principles and will also focus on ‘hands on’ training in the practical steps required to design, establish, run and validate qPCR assays to measure expression of specific genes.

Date: November 4th and 5th 2008

Course venue; Guy’s Campus of King’s College London, UK 2 minutes walk from London Bridge mainline rail and underground stations. The course will be held in a modern multi-purpose teaching laboratory with full audio-visual presentation facilities and internet access.

Teaching: Our aim is to provide an intense, but stimulating experience of lasting value. Practical work by the participants themselves will alternate with theory sessions run by King’s staff or external experts.

Programme: The workshop will be informal with a timetable organised to encourage interaction, questions and discussion between participants and workshop staff. Dr David Sugden will run the workshop assisted by experienced post-doctoral researchers. A similar workshop, run several times for the Physiological Society, has proven very popular and is always oversubscribed.

For further information, a preliminary programme and registration form see:

or contact: david.sugden@kcl.ac.uk
Cost £320, including lunch.
Participants to arrange their own overnight accommodation.

This course is sponsored by the BBSRC Modular Training for Industry Programme.
