How do you quantify quantum dots' molarity??

Hi,

I am running an experiment with cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots. I need to know how to calculate molarity of QD's? I know I can use initial Cadmium concentration to calculate assuming I know the diameter of QD to be about 5-5nm. but I also need to know how many Cd ions there are in each QD (approximatly on average)?

For your Q, I recommend you to read a ref. by Peng et al. ( W. W. Yu, L. Qu, W. Guo and X. Peng, Chem. Mater., 2003, 15, 2854.). Briefly, you can determine the size of CdTe QDs by UV-vis spectrum, then calculate the concentration of QDs. If any questions more, welcome to send e-mail to me. (sally208@ciac.jl.cn). Good luck!
