ORGANIC CHEMISTRY - The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo invites applications for full-time, academic year, tenure track positions in organic chemistry beginning September, 2009. Teaching assignments will be in general and organic chemistry for majors and nonmajors as well as advanced organic chemistry courses. Appointments are anticipated at the assistant professor level, and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline is required at the time of hiring. Successful candidates must be committed to quality undergraduate education and will be expected to develop and maintain an active professional development program involving undergraduates. Experience in teaching laboratory or lecture courses in undergraduate chemistry, especially organic chemistry, is expected. Area of research specialization is open. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers B.S. degrees in both chemistry and biochemistry. The department also serves many technical programs in the University. Undergraduate majors may choose concentrations in Polymers and Coatings, Molecular Biology, or a focused (4+1) Master's program in Polymers and Coatings Science.
