Majority of Proteasome subunits are present in the nucleus in actively growing yeast. As the cells enter quiescence, the proteasome subunits localize into cytoplasm, in foci called proteasome storage granules or PSG. Exit from quiescence causes the redeployment of the proteasome into the nucleus and does not require new protein synthesis.
